MONTGOMERY Ala. – Coming off a big win against Choctawhatchee, the Tigers looked for answers as they prepared for region play. Despite traffic, the summer heat, and a good team on the other sideline, they took care of business.
Auburn defeated Carver-Montgomery 23-16 in Cramton Bowl on Friday night.
The defense shined, not allowing a touchdown to the Wolverine offense. It was the efforts of players like Kollin King, Qua Woods and Carter Chambley that suffocated their opponent. The Tigers forced a fumble on the last drive of the game, effectively sealing the win.
Jeremiah Owens, a sophmore running back, then came in as a closer. He had only five carries, but netted 69 yards to ice the game. With an average of 13.8 yards an attempt, he is expected to continue to increase his touches as the season continues.
Auburn moves to 2-1, and will travel to Enterprise as they move to the back half of their 4-game road stretch. Carver drops to 1-2, and will travel to Dothan to play the Wolves.
