While visiting Rebecca Farr’s family for Thanksgiving, Alex Stroud got down on one knee overlooking the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains on Chimney Tops in Tennessee. It was a very special moment in the mountains-Rebecca’s favorite place! Having met at Auburn University, Alex and Rebecca decided to get married at a nearby location on Lake Martin.
It could not have been a more beautiful day. The morning of Sept. 23 was warm and airy, the sun was shining and excitement was in the air. As the day went on, the day began to feel more and more like a dream. The girls arrived at The Stables first and began to get ready; the guys came next, dressed in their suits. There couldn’t have been a more beautiful scene for a wedding. The ceremony was held in the breezy second floor of the barn. Alex and Rebecca were downstairs, in different rooms, waiting in anticipation. Next thing they knew, Alex was standing, waiting for his bride, at the altar. Friends and family surrounded the altar on three sides. Everyone went silent, and two big barn doors flew open. The most beautiful bride and her father began walking down the aisle to “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” resounding from a harp. Alex and Rebecca locked eyes and couldn’t stop smiling. Joy filled the room as they said their vows and became husband and wife.
The celebration that ensued was joyful and fun. It started with the most beautiful sunset under a tent frame with light bulbs strung throughout. Guests indulged in a class Southern buffet and delighted in sweets handmade by Rebecca’s oldest sister. Tim Tyler played the piano, friends and family danced and sang the night away, and the Strouds lived the most magical night!
