Friday, July 3, 2026 at the Opelika High School Track. This free event from Opelika Parks and Recreation begins at 6:30 p.m. Parking will be available at Opelika High School and Southern Union. Live music begins at 7 p.m. The Opelika Band Boosters will operate a concession stand, serving hamburgers and hot dogs, and other food trucks will be there as well. At 7:30 p.m., the Silver Wings Parachute Team from Fort Benning, Georgia, will make their patriotic descent into the event, delivering the Stars and Stripes to the celebration. Prior to the jump, children will have the opportunity to write their names on paper plates that will be placed on the baseball field. After landing, each skydiver will select a nearby paper plate, and those children will receive a prize. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display around 9 p.m
