MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After a match that went all five sets against Rehobeth, Sylacauga came out in its second match of the day energized.
Sylacauga needed to take down Demopolis in the south region quarterfinals to keep its season alive, and it did just that – quickly.
Coach Rebecca Paterson’s Aggies made quick work of the Tigers, winning the match 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-13), and will now advance to the south region semifinals against either UMS-Wright or Bayside.
“I’m speechless,’ said Paterson. “What they did today is the product of how our players and coaches worked all season. We played a close match earlier, but the bottom line is we finished strong.”
Paterson said she was extremely proud of all of her players, but Molly Childress stood out in how she played today.
“It was a full team effort, but I want to brag on Molly [Childress]. She has worked really hard, and today she came out with full confidence and scored some key points for us today in big spots,” Paterson explained.
Sylacauga punched it’s ticket to state with the win. It’s Thursday matches are purely for seeding purposes.
