The Alabama High School Athletic Association released its new classifications for fall sports across the state for the school years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.
Because of the competitive balance factor placed on private school teams, not schools, the AHSAA only released regions and areas for fall sports although schools will be able to see they’re general classification. For instance, if St. Paul’s in mobile is a 5A school, its football program may have to play in the 6A classification, according to the competitive balance rule, although other sports could still play at the 5A level.
The Sylacauga Aggies 5A region will change as Mortimer Jordan moves up to 6A and a whole new barrage of teams are shifted into the mix. The Aggies are now in Class 5A Region 4 as much of the region has moved south for the Aggies.
