BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama football’s Alex Leatherwood and DeVonta Smith each earned Southeastern Conference weekly honors, the league office announced on Monday. Leatherwood was named the Offensive Lineman of the Week while Smith was selected as the Co-Special Teams Player of the Week.
Offensive Lineman of the Week
Alex Leatherwood
- Anchored an Alabama offensive line that helped the Tide to a dominant 52-3 win at Arkansas
- Graded out at 100 percent on his assignments and did not commit a penalty against the Razorbacks
- Did not allow a sack or a quarterback pressure as Mac Jones completed 24-of-29 passes for 208 yards
- Helped the Tide ground game average 5.7 yards per carry and accumulate six rushing touchdowns
- Alabama’s unit controlled the line of scrimmage as the Tide accounted for 216 rushing yards and 227 yards through the air
Special Teams Player of the Week
DeVonta Smith
- Totaled 111 yards across three punt returns, one of which he took back for a touchdown
- Returned his second punt of the game up the middle and outran the Arkansas defenders to the end zone for an 84-yard touchdown
- Added three receptions for 22 yards before exiting the game after halftime
