The following is a press release from Alabama Athletics.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Praise continues to flood in for University of Alabama football’s Will Anderson Jr. after his career performance at Mississippi State last weekend. The linebacker was named the Bronko Nagurski Player of the Week Tuesday, to pair with his Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week and the Bednarik Player of the Week honors garnered earlier in the week. It marks the eighth time an Alabama player has earned the Bronko Nagurski Trophy weekly honor and the first since 2018.
Bronko Nagurski Player of the Week
Will Anderson Jr.
- Became the first Alabama defender since 1988 to record four sacks in a game and just the third player in school history to tally four-plus sacks in a single contest, joining Derrick Thomas and Leroy Cook
- Recorded six total tackles and a pass breakup to go with his four sacks
- The four tackles for loss in Starkville moved him to an NCAA-leading 15 (-72 yards) for the season
- Helped the Tide defense hold the Bulldogs to 18.8 points below their season average and 72 yards below their passing offense average entering the game
