CVA duo signs softball scholarship with CACC

HARPERSVILLE, Ala. – Coosa Valley Academy’s Carmen Lovett and Jenna Castleberry will have another two years on the softball diamond together as both signed a letter of intent to continue playing softball at Central Alabama Community College.

“Carmen and Jenna are good kids,” said head coach Stoney Wesson. “Off the field, they are very strong in academics and are girls that younger kids should look up to because of their work ethic in the classroom and on the ball field.”

Being close to home played a major role in both of their decisions to attend CACC.

This season marks the thirteenth season on the diamond for both Lovett and Castleberry.

While most athletes can only dream about playing at the next level. Lovett says her competitive nature helped push her to achieve her dreams of playing at the next level.

“It is an awesome opportunity to further my education, while playing the game I love,” said Castleberry.

The dynamic duo is having a stellar senior season, both batting over .600 and splitting time at two of the most vital position on the diamond, pitcher and shortstop.

The Lady Rebels are 5-2 on the season, although many games have been postponed or canceled due to severe weather and COVID-19.
