Lee-Scott varsity basketball swept Evangel Christian to wrap up a three-game week. The varsity boys topped the Lions 38-31, advancing to 3-4 overall.
It was a tight contest with neither team separating for a lead greater than two points one possession until Lee-Scott was able to pull away in the fourth quarter. Defense ruled the day for two teams who settled into zone defenses and prevented penetration inside the arc.
Senior forward Carson Alexander led the Warriors in scoring with 14 points. He added seven rebounds, two assists and a block to his tally. With Alexander spending almost the entirety of the first half on the bench in foul trouble, Lee-Scott received a hefty contribution from sophomore forward Joseph Horne, who put up 13 points, four rebounds and two steals.
The varsity girls beat Evangel 37-27 to advance to 4-2 on the year. Entering the week at 1-2, the varsity girls won all three games on the schedule this week (Edgewood, Pike and Evangel). Junior forward Sterling Tucker led the Warriors with 12 points on 5-for-11 shooting, adding four rebounds and three steals to her total. Tucker found her groove this week averaging 14 points across all three wins.
Freshman guard Madison Davis was second in scoring with 10 points, five rebounds, one assist and five steals.
