[ICYMI] Sylacauga hoops’ big man officially inks with Mercer

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga basketball standout Shannon Grant verbally committed to Mercer University in January, and now his decision is official.

Over the weekend, Grant put pen to paper, and signed his National Letter of Intent.

The 6-foot-10-inch center announced his signing on his Twitter account.

In three seasons of varsity basketball, Grant helped Sylacauga to an impressive 75 wins compared to only 25 losses. He led the Aggies to the Class 5A State Championship with a narrow win over Eufaula, 59-58 in 2018.

“I’m very excited that Shannon is joining our family,” said Mercer Head Coach Greg Gary. “He has tremendous size and is very skilled. I’m looking forward to getting him to campus.”

“Shannon is an unbelievable talent with tremendous size, but he also runs the floor and handles the basketball well,” said SHS Basketball Coach Kent Fullington. “I am proud of Shannon. He has done a lot for our program. Mercer is getting a really good player, but more importantly a better person.”
