[WATCH] Auburn basketball wraps up regular season against Opelika with area tournament on the horizon

AUBURN, Ala. – With one regular season game remaining against arch-rival Opelika, the area tournament nears for Auburn basketball. Both squads beat Opelika earlier in the season at home with varsity boys winning 74-55 and varsity girls edging out the Bulldogs 58-55.

Area play is wrapped up for both teams with the area tournaments being hosted at Auburn High School. Varsity boys finished 14-3 overall with a 3-1 area record, earning host privileges after winning the coin flip against rival Smiths Station. Varsity girls is 14-4 overall and finished area play undefeated at 4-0. Hear from both squads as the Tigers prepare for Opelika and the area tournament.

Auburn and Opelika will square off on Friday at Opelika High School to wrap up the regular season. As for the area tournament, both teams have locked their places into the area championship. Varsity girls will play on Friday, Feb. 12, and the varsity boys team will play on Saturday, Feb. 13.
