Two Childersburg Lady Tigers sign to play collegiate basketball at Southern Union

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Two of Childersburg’s brightest young athletes, Eunique McKinney and Ke’asia McKinney, received scholarships and signed their letters of intent to play  collegiate basketball for Southern Union State Community College today.

Eunique McKinney wears number three for the Lady Tigers and plays point guard. Ke’asia McKinney wears number 24 and plays power forward.

“These are two great girls, and I’m so excited that they are getting the chance to play college ball and get a great education,” said Childersburg’s varsity girls head coach, Gavin King. “All of their hard work is paying off.”

Ke’asia is averaging 15.6 points per game this season, and Eunique is averaging 12.7 points per game.

The ladies led their team to a state semifinal appearance last season where they fell just short to Rogers High School. The Childersburg Lady Tigers are 7-1 so far this year.

“It’s really special for our team for them to see two of the older girl’s hard work really pay off,” said King. “We have got a lot of young girls in our program who definitely look up to these two, and it is going to draw a lot of great publicity to our team obviously and motivate the girls that are here to work harder.”
