Sylacauga (4-0, 2-0) will go on the road to Mortimer Jordan (2-2, 1-1) Friday night.
Last season the Blue Devils squeaked out a close win in Legion Stadium. Now, the Aggies return the trip to Kimberly, Alabama.
If Sylacauga can get this road win against one of last season’s Class 5A semifinalists, there is a very bright outlook on the rest of the season. Starting off region play 3-0 almost guarantees a playoff birth. The Aggies would only need one more region win in four chances to clinch a spot in the postseason.
Last week the offense relied heavily on sophomore running back Maleek Pope. Pope put up 166 yards on 18 touches. Expect the team to lean on Pope and Jordan Ridgeway early to take the pressure off of the offense.
Coach Matt Griffith spoke with The Aggie Sports Network Thursday to preview the game in “One-on-One” presented by Subway of Sylacauga.
