There is no doubt this is a game Sylacauga has circled on the schedule every year, and now that the Center Point victory has passed, Clay Central is the biggest game on the schedule to this point.
No, that is not “coach speak” it is the cold hard truth. The 17-6 win over top-10 Center Point is huge if the Aggies win out, not so much if the Aggies don’t.
Why you ask? It’s all about the postseason. You’d think that a win over Center Point, and being 4-1 in the region would have you locked in, but it doesn’t. There’s actually a possible scenario where the Aggies miss the playoff.
Class 5A Region 5 is similar to the Wild Wild West. It’s every man for himself. Five teams are gunning for four positions, and and there are five separate scenarios for the Aggies to make – or miss – the postseason.
This game tomorrow is huge and the team and coaches know it.
Here’s Sylacauga Head Coach Matt Griffith previewing the Clay central Volunteers.
