About Bob Mayben
By the time I was in high school I had decided that I wanted to be on the radio, playing the music that we love, and doing my best to entertain the radio audience.

I started sweeping the floor at WETO in Gadsden, Alabama in October of 1963 and was able to operate the equipment and play music on Sunday, after the religious programming had ended. From that start, making a whopping $10 a week, I slowly but steadily advanced up the ladder, to finally be a full-time disc jockey, then program director, chief engineer, and even shared ownership in radio.

At the end of the day, the work I enjoy the most is when the radio audience feels connected to my efforts. There's nothing better than playing the hits of the past, and relating trivia about the song or the artist, to make it informative as well as entertaining.

I'm very lucky to be doing what I love as my profession. This job allows me to re-connect with friends who have listened to me over the years, and to meet new friends by way of the greatest medium in the world, one to one radio.
