About Good Time Gold
Good Time Gold is a late fifties to early seventies olde music program.
About Bob Mayden
By the time he was in high school, Mayden had decided that he wanted to be on the radio, playing the music that he loved, and doing his best to entertain the radio audience.
He started sweeping the floor at WETO in Gadsden, Alabama in October of 1963 and was able to operate the equipment and play music on Sunday after the religious programming had ended. From that start, making a whopping $10 a week, he slowly but steadily advanced up the ladder, to finally be a full-time disc jockey, then program director, chief engineer, and even shared ownership in radio.
At the end of the day, the work he enjoys the most is when the radio audience feels connected to his efforts. There's nothing better than playing the hits of the past, and relating trivia about the song or the artist, to make it informative as well as entertaining.
