About Michael Brannon

Born and raised in Mobile, Michael Brannon joined RadioAlabama in 2016.

As a child, Michael entertained family and friends with a microphone and, as a teenager, explored the world of television, acting, script-writing, producing, directing, and movie-making, sparking his passion for television and entertainment.

Michael attended Spring Hill College and then ultimately finished higher education at the University of South Alabama, where he received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.

While at South, Michael co-created and hosted USA Sports, in conjunction with the athletic department. Michael was also heard on Jaguar athletic radio as he announced for South Alabama’s Division 1 athletic programs, including Lady Jags basketball and softball. Michael served as the public address announcer for South Alabama football, the Jaguar Marching Band and other sports from 2009-2013. In 2010, Michael interned with CNN International's BackStory at CNN in Atlanta, then became Pepsi's weekly UMinute host on NBC affiliate WPMI Local15 and its sister station WJTC UTV44.

In late 2011, Michael’s production company branched out, creating a local entertainment show called The Blend, which aired on UTV44. He spearheaded the production as host, director, and executive producer. During that time, Michael won the Chris Myers Nissan Talent Search, where he served as spokesperson, driving a new Nissan model every month for a year. Then, Michael transitioned into weekday mornings as social media reporter for Local15 Today.

In March 2013, Michael moved across Mobile to WALA FOX10. Starting as a general assignment reporter, Michael covered stories from severe weather outbreaks including a winter ice storm to historic rain and flooding in the Mobile area, to undercover drug operations with the Mobile Police Department, feature stories on the military, the Hangout Music Festival, Bayfest, and the 2014 BCS National Championship. In 2014, he was named sports director and covered major sporting events including the first College Football Playoffs while interviewing high profile sports figures including Nick Saban, Gus Malzahn, Joey Jones, Bobby Bowden, and Pat Dye.

Michael returned to South Alabama in during the 2014 football season serving at the Cook’s Pest Control sideline reporter for the South Alabama Jaguars covering historic games for the young Division 1 football program including its first ever bowl appearance.

Michael had supporting role in Rage and USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage with Nicolas Cage and in Heist with Robert Di Nero.
