BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A pair of Alabama soccer players earned All-SEC honors as the conference office announced its postseason awards Thursday morning. Voted on by the league’s head coaches, Riley Mattingly was selected to the Second Team All-SEC, while Felicia Knox picked up All-Freshman Team accolades.
Second Team All-SEC
Riley Mattingly
- Mattingly made six starts in seven matches during her third season at the Capstone, leading the team with five points in 2020.
- The junior forward was an offensive force in Alabama’s 3-1 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers (Sept. 19) leading the team with two goals.
- Most recently, Mattingly tallied her lone assist of the season in the 1-0 shutout win at No. 15 Auburn (Nov. 6).
- A native of Flower Mound, Texas, Mattingly, leads the Tide in shots fired with 13.
All-Freshman Team
Felicia Knox
- Knox played in all eight regular season conference games, making seven starts at midfield.
- Logging nearly 576 minutes on the pitch as a true freshman, Knox ranks fourth on the team in minutes.
- The rookie out of Shawnee, Kan., also leads the team with five points.
- In her collegiate debut against Tennessee, Knox registered an assist and only a week later scored her first career goal at Mississippi State (Sept. 25).
- Last time out, Knox scored a massive game-winner, as Alabama knocked off in-state rival No. 15 Auburn for its first victory at Auburn since 1998.
The Crimson Tide will return to action on Friday, Nov. 13 in Orange Beach, Ala., as they face the No. 14 seed LSU in the First Round of the SEC Tournament. The match will be broadcast on the SEC Network at 6 p.m. CT.
