In Malzahn’s opening statement, he mentioned the team became tired at the end of practice, saying they need to finish better the next day.
“We got a little tired towards the end,” Malzahn said. “First time out, we had the extended time period off. Tomorrow, we gotta come out here and we gotta finish practice better. That was the take on it, but I love our positive energy and everything that went with it.”
Despite the finish, Malzahn appeared to be pleased with practice while speaking with the media. When talking about the quarterback competition, Malzahn made a point to talk about the installation of the offense.
“Now, I’m gonna say this too,” Malzahn said. “Install-wise in the past, it’s been a real slow process. We’ve been really slow as far as our install. Today, we decided to throw a lot more at them. We feel like we’ve got a veteran group as far as our first group goes. Our quarterbacks, obviously, we threw a lot at them, but I think its good.”
“For the most part, they handled the installation pretty well. You can tell they have done a lot of work on their own this summer. That was encouraging to see.”
