AUBURN, Ala. – Wings 94.3 will cap its tenth year as the exclusive home for Auburn High School Football by providing live coverage of the 2022 AHSAA 7A State Championship Game for boys football on Wednesday night as well as the 2022 AHSAA 7A girls flag football title game on Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers’ goys football game against the Thompson Warriors will be a rematch of the 2020 championship game in which the Warriors narrowly defeated the Tigers by a 29-28 final score. The voice of Auburn High football Scott Bagwell, former Auburn University standout and All-SEC safety Rob Pate, and Jack Hudon will have coverage of the contest live from Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama. A special one-hour pregame show will precede Wednesday night’s game beginning at 6:00 p.m. CT with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT.
“Rob, Jack and I are very excited to have the opportunity to provide Auburn High School fans and supporters with coverage of Wednesday’s games because we know how much it means to the community and the city that all three of us call home,” Bagwell said on Monday. “Being a part of this championship run has been really exciting, and for these players to have the chance to win Auburn’s first state title will be must-listen radio.”
For the first time ever, the Auburn Network will also air live coverage of the Auburn High girls flag football state championship matchup against Oxford after the Tigers made the state title game in their second season in program history. Scott Bagwell and Jack Hudon will have the call on Wings 94.3 earlier in the day on Wednesday beginning at 1:45 p.m. CT with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. CT.
“We are honored to conclude our tenth season of broadcasting Auburn High Football on Wings 94.3 with the state championship game for boys football. The decision to also include the girls flag football game is an exciting first for us, and the coverage is well deserved by the student-athletes. We are very proud of both the girls and the boys teams,” said Auburn Network Vice President & Market Manager Steve Witten. “The Auburn Network takes pride in presenting the best quality and on-air commentary of any high school broadcast in the state for Auburn High’s many supporters and fans. I appreciate the confidence that Auburn City Schools and Auburn High Athletics has in us to be the exclusive broadcaster of their games. I’d also like to thank The Orthopaedic Clinic for its continued sponsorship of the Auburn High Sports Network.”
