Coach Kris Herron figures prominently in Alabama and Clay County high school football history. Before transitioning to media, Herron dedicated three decades to coaching in Clay County.

He spent 19 seasons as an assistant coach at Clay County High School, helping lead the Panthers to six state championships in 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2002, and 2005 while serving as offensive line coach under legendary Hall of Fame head coach Danny Horn. Herron later served as the final head coach at Clay County High School from 2009 to 2011, compiling a 33-8 record and leading the Panthers to a state runner-up finish.

Following school consolidation, he became defensive coordinator under Hall of Fame head coach Steve Giddens before serving as head coach at Central High School of Clay County from 2013 until his retirement in 2018. During that span, he compiled a 41-19 record, finishing his head coaching career with an overall record of 74-27.

Today, Herron brings his deep gridiron expertise to RadioAlabama. He serves as an on-air personality, hosting the weekday morning shows Classic Country Sunrise and Coach & Friends, while co-hosting Three Point Stance on Classic Country 90.9.
